// behind the lens

My father gifted me a 35mm canon film camera when I took up photography as an elective in high school. I first discovered a love for photography documenting bridges in my hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The wood, worn with the footsteps of a thousand stories, the welding of the metal and intersecting lines demonstrated the careful detail of those who created these pillars.

Years later, my partner brought home a camera that I quickly claimed as my own to document the transformative and intimate journey of birth. each birth is unique, a reflection of the vivid complexity of humanity. The texture & tone of one’s birth, season in life, and moment in time is an expression of the human experience.

here i’ve offered some snapshots of some of the spaces I’ve been invited to witness.

It’s a great honor to be behind the lens. Documenting women in these intimate containers illuminates the rawest form of power, surrender, trust, and love.
